Load Cell Amplifiers
As well as offering Australia's most comprehensive range of quality load cells, ADM also offers a considered range of load cell amplifiers. We specialise in offering complete weight and force measurement solutions.
Load Cell Amplifiers are also referred to as load cell transmitters, load cell converters, or signal conditioners.
Load cell amplifiers convert the information received from a strain gauge circuit, which is bonded to the firm surface of a load cell, into an output signal that can be recognised by a load cell display, or PLC.
The strain gauge circuit is a simple arrangement of resistors, which are wired in a configuration known as a Wheatstone bridge. Being simple resistors, a load cell is a completely passive sensor that requires an external excitation voltage (from the load cell amplifier). The unit of measurement read back from the load cell is mV/V. The mV value read is directly proportional to the load force being applied, as well as the excitation voltage supplied by the load cell amplifier (typically 10VDC).
Because a mV/V reading value is not much use to an industrial controller or display, the purpose of the load cell amplifier is to retransmit this value as a more useful unit of measurement such as 4-20mA, 0-10V or even a communication protocol.
ADM offers a considered range of industrial load cell amplifiers.
Action Instruments G448 Load Cell Amplifier
The Action Instruments G448 has been a popular load cell amplifier, but was sadly discontinued in 2024.
ADM recommends the Laumas TLB Load Cell transmitter as a suitable replacement to the G448.
With the TLB you don't need a laptop or any complicated to configure the device to your needs.
Whereas the G448 had simple dip-switches, the TLB has 4 push buttons and a digital display to enable you to easily set your desired parameters.
The TLB is available various analogue output options including 0/4-20 mA, 0-5/10 V, and ±5/10 V.
NCT Load Cell Transmitter
The Curiotec NCT provides you with a complete load cell signal conditioner in a neat-looking panel meter-style housing.
There are two output options available: Either a 1-10V, or 4-20mA output.
It provides either a precise 5V, or 10V excitation voltage.
If you are looking for load cells, load cell amplifiers or a complete solution please do not hesitate to contact ADM Instrument Engineering with your requirements. A member of our friendly team will gladly assist.
