Pulsar Measurement’s DATEM Echo Processing succeeds where other RADAR Level Transmitters Fail
A recent customer application reported that a well-known brand's radar level transmitter had repeatedly failed to determine an accurate level within a power station's coal slag chute feeding from an agitator tank. The level transmitter's failure was attributed to interference from environmental conditions within the agitator tank, resulting in nuisance maintenance callouts and downtime in productivity.
The customer, now requiring a new level transmitter, was recommended Pulsar Measurement's REFLECT radar level transmitter. This transmitter is known for its reliability to produce accurate measurements in harsh conditions through the onboard integration of DATEM's echo-processing firmware.
The DATEM firmware allows the Pulsar REFLECT radar transmitter to stand out amongst competing brands. It consistently produces accurate level measurements in hazardous and obstructed environments where many other radar-level sensors fail.

Obstructed View: Radar’s False Readings
Obstructions within level application environments can be sporadic, often featuring any number of elements partially blocking a sensor's line of sight to the liquid or solid below. Elements such as piping, pumps, chains, and changing liquid conditions, such as foaming, are all potential factors for false readings for radar-level sensors.
With the integration of Digital Adaptive Tracking of Echo Movement (DATEM) firmware, these obstructions are not a problem for Pulsar Measurement's REFLECT radar level transmitters. DATEM is intelligent firmware tasked with identifying and discriminating irrelevant materials in complex environments, finding and locking onto the intended level's substance reflection signal, and producing accurate and consistent level measurements.
Pulsar Measurement Reflect Radar Transmitters
Pulsar Measurement's REFLECT radar series is a highly robust level transmitter. It is designed to thrive in hazardous applications with a hermetically sealed IP68 rating housing and certifications with ATEX, IECEx, FCC, RED, CE, UKCA, and EXIA approvals.
The REFLECT series provides measurements by frequency-modulated continuous wave radar, FMCW, through a narrow 6° beam angle, continuously ensuring a high degree of accuracy throughout operations. Users can delight in REFLECT's user-friendly and low-maintenance design and Bluetooth communication, which allows users to monitor and control DATEM wirelessly via Pulsar's web application.

With REFLECT's robust design and DATEM's highly intelligent echo discrimination and processing capabilities, this radar-level transmitter can be reliably used in almost any level application environment.
