Are you finding it difficult to find a replacement for your old K-Patents refractometer? That is because K-Patents is now part of Vaisala, hence these refractometers are now called Vaisala K-Patents refractometers.

Now that we have it sorted…

What are Refractometers and How Do They Work?

Refractometers work based on Snell’s principle of light refraction. They measure how much light bends, or refracts (index of refraction), when it passes through a liquid.

Each compound has a specific index of refraction depending on its composition and on its temperature. As the concentration of a particular compound increases, the degree to which the light is bent also increases.

By knowing the index of refraction, you can determine the concentration of substances in the liquid.

Benefits and Applications of Vaisala K-Patents Process Refractometers

Vaisala K-Patents Process Refractometers are designed to withstand harsh conditions.

They are highly accurate and can measure the liquid concentration despite the presence of bubbles, impurities, particles, and the colour of the liquid itself.

Other features of Vaisala K-Patents refractometers include:

  • Completely digital system: no signal drift, no need for regular recalibration, no influence by bubbles or suspended solids.

  • Robust and sanitary design to meet the needs of various industries, including food and beverage, chemical, oil and gas, and pharmaceutical.
