Monitran’s Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) is a highly accurate displacement measurement device designed to measure linear displacement - in other words, how far something moves in a straight line.

Due to its reliability, durability and precision, the LVDT remains a popular choice for displacement measurement across industrial monitoring and control applications.

Monitran offers four main series of LVDTs, each designed for specific needs:

Industrial series – The Industrial Series LVDT is built to endure the harshness of the industrial plant environments. Featuring a robust stainless steel housing and standard IP65 sealing (with optional IP68 waterproof protection), these sensors are designed for durability and reliability. Armoured hose options are available and can measure displacements ranging from ±0.5mm to ±550mm with exceptional linearity better than ±0.5%.

Miniature series – Perfect for applications where space is limited, the miniature series is smaller in size and suitable for applications in factory automation, medical equipment and material testing. A key advantage is the low mass of the miniature LVDT’s core, making it particularly valuable for projects with strict weight constraints.

Pressurised series – Designed to function in high pressure environments, the pressurised series allow pressures up to 6000 PSI (400 Bar). This makes them suitable for use in hydraulic systems, where they are often employed as feedback loop signal sources in providing accurate positioning data for control purposes.

Their measurement ranges from ±25mm to ±500mm with a linearity better than ±0.5%. Available outputs are AC, DC Bipolar, 0-5V, 0-10V, and 4-20mA.

Pressurised slimline – Similar to the above series, the pressurised slimline is a compact version of the standard pressurised LVDT, designed for high-pressure hydraulic applications where space is at a premium.

With its slimmer profile, this sensor provides the same robust performance and pressure resistance (up to 6000 PSI) as the standard series, but in a more streamlined package that can fit into tighter installation spaces.
