Encoders
POSITAL is an industry leader in industrial sensors that are built for motion control and safety measurement systems. From the most economical and compact devices to robust sensors, POSITAL specialises in two types of encoders: absolute and incremental.
Absolute Encoders
Absolute encoders provide unique digital codes for each shaft position, allowing them to report the exact position immediately upon power-up, even after a power loss. They do not require any calibration or homing sequences, maintaining position data even when the shaft is moved while powered off.
Known for their accuracy and reliability, POSITAL absolute encoders feature:
- Single-turn or multi-turn variations
- Over 15 communication interfaces
- Wiegand Technology; requires no battery
- Programmable Parameters
Incremental Encoders
In contrast, incremental encoders output pulses to indicate changes in position and require a reference point or "home" position to determine absolute location. After a power-up, they need to rotate the shaft to provide positioning information and cannot track position changes when powered off.
Offering reliable speed and distance feedback, incremental encoders are a popular solution that includes:
- Various output signals (HTL, TTL)
- Multiple mounting options (shaft, thru-bore, blind hollow bore)
- Programmable parameters (PPR, resolution, number of turns, direction)
- Use of TMR (tunnel magneto-resistance) sensing technology for improved performance
