Eddy Current Probes and Drivers
Eddy current probes are non-contact sensors that use electromagnetic principles to measure distance and detect vibration in conductive materials. They're particularly useful in industrial environments where contact sensors might fail due to contamination.
Manufactured in the UK to ISO 9001:200, Monitran’s eddy current probes are ruggedly built and rigorously tested to withstand harsh conditions.
Key features:
- Construction: Coaxial cable with ETFE insulation
- Standard cable length: 1 meter
- Cable features: Internal copper braid, stainless steel overbraid
- Extension cables available up to 8 meters
Applications:
Pumps, turbines, machine tools, gauges, centrifuges, and plain metal bearings. The probes demonstrate high resistance to environmental contaminants like oil, dirt, dust, and water.
Monitran Eddy Current Probes
MTN/EP080 – Most common probe for high-speed pumps with plain metal bearings
MTN/EP200 - Used to measure coarser vibrations
MTN/EP200F - As MTN/EP200 but in low-profile mount
MTN/EP340 - Generally used for precision gap measurements
MTN/EP340F - As MTN/EP340 but in a low-profile mount
MTN/EP480 - Widest gap capability
MTN/EPHD080 - Heavy-duty eddy current probe system designed for for pump and turbine thrust measurements
Eddy Current Drivers
Eddy current drivers work in conjunction with the probes to form complete measurement systems. They process the raw signal from the probe to provide usable output. Monitran offers seven driver models with either voltage or current (4-20mA) outputs. The current output drivers allow direct connection to PLCs and other industrial controllers.
MTN/ECPD-24V: Voltage output driver suitable for conventional +24VDC power supplies.
MTN/ECPD: Voltage output driver for negative going power supply required to match other manufacturers’ controllers.
MTN/ECPD/78: Voltage output driver suitable for conventional +24VDC power supplies. Lower output sensitivity.
MTN/ECPD60: Current output driver for gap measurements. Range dependent on associated probe, typically 2mm gap for thrust measurements on turbine and pump shafts. Three-wire configuration.
MTN/ECPD85: Current output driver for vibration measurements. Range dependent on associated probe, typically 125micron peak-to-peak vibration for turbine and pump shafts. Three-wire configuration.
MTN/ECPD2-AC: Current output driver for gap measurements. Range dependent on associated probe, typically 2mm gap for thrust measurements on turbine and pump shafts. Loop-powered.
MTN/ECPD2-DC: Current output driver for vibration measurements. Range dependent on associated probe, typically 125micron peak-to-peak vibration for turbine and pump shafts. Loop-powered.
